The EU funded project UpskillingLab 4.0 kicked off in Sofia, Bulgaria, on the 12th and 13th December. The main project goal is to provide skill improvement opportunities to companies’ staff (managers and employees) in order to connect international start-ups, scaleups, and established companies operating in specific verticals with focus on modern technologies and innovation (Industry 4.0).

Outputs

The consortium is currently in the process of developing Output 2: Skills Development Framework
This output will:
  • map the necessary competences and skills of personnel for open innovation, general collaboration management and how to develop Industry 4.0 products,
  • serve as a pedagogical guide: tools and methods to help transfer knowledge.
One intermediate output for Output 2 has recently been finalised: the Skills Cards. Such cards will be used to match the necessary skills and expertise to face the challenge of successful innovation collaboration. Once finalised, Output 2, as well as all the other final outputs of the project, will be publicly
accessible on the project’s website here.

​​Applied Artificial Intelligence Conference 2020

The Enterprise Europe Network team AT BIA is co-organising, together with the Network partner WKO – Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, the virtual edition of the Applied Artificial Intelligence Conference 2020. The event will take place on 11th May 2020 with renowned international experts in the field. The conference will encompass use cases of Artificial Intelligence for businesses, prearranged b2b meetings, sector specific in-depth discussions, Beginner / Intermediate / Expert Workshops. BIA team supports Bulgarian start-ups/scale-ups participation in the b2b meetings.

​SharON

The project SharON, focusing on providing start-ups with ideas in the sharing economy with opportunities for development, has been finalised. BIA is one of the project partners and, within the project, it has organised an Accelerator Program, consisting of Innovation Health Check service, a bootcamp training and a mentoring programme. Eleven interesting start-ups boosting the sharing economy have participated in the programme. One of the start-ups was selected, it presented in front of an international jury in Warsaw during a demo day and at a pitch for foreign partners event at the Sector Group “Creative Industries” of the Enterprise Europe Network, organised by BIA in Sofia. Another participating start-up in the field of peer learning and skills has obtained funding and expanded to Russia.

Corship​​

ESN is within the consortium of the CORSHIP project, which sets out to establish a joint language between corporates, startups and universities to successfully exploit the full potential of “Corporate Entrepreneurship” across sectors and industries. On the 22nd of April, the first core deliverable of the Corship project is becoming real: The Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Co-Innovation between Startups and Corporate. Check it out!

ESN recently published the European Startup Monitor 2019/2020, which offers profiles of current startups, highlights the challenges linked to their various stages of development and provides policy recommendations to help policy makers in strengthening European startup ecosystems. Check it out!

​European Data Incubator

University of Deusto leads the consortium working on a Horizon 2020 project: the European Data Incubator. The project, which is entering its final round, created a virtual incubator linking startups with data providers to solve a challenge that the latter place on the table.

DESI2019

​Orkestra, the Basque Institute of Competitiveness, a branch of Deusto Foundation, has recently launched the last report about “Digital Economy and Society in the Basque Country (DESI 2019)”. The 2019 DESI allows the Basque Country to obtain a fifth place within the EU-28 group of countries, with a wide margin with respect to the average. Human capital, use of Internet services at home, buiness digitisation adn the dimension of digital services are the main indicators analysed in the report.

The Chamber of Small Business and Craft of Slovenia is a partner in the Interreg project finMED, whose aim is to boost the financing of innovation for green growth sectors through innovative cluster services in the MED area . The project is coming into the second phase, transfer of the developed tools to facilitate financial opportunities.

ScaleupALPS

Within the project ScaleupALPS the chamber continues to raise awareness among business community and promote efficient national measures to increase innovation capabilities and overall competitiveness of SMEs through the networking and debating with main stakeholder of eco-system. ​ENTERPRIJS

In February, the ENTERPRIJS finale took place, a student start-up competition for which ambitious students had to pitch about their innovative start-ups. This was a huge success with a winner: De Producer School. De Producer School’s aim is to develop musical knowledge in all its forms. Together with their partner DJ-life.nl, they offer a unique platform in order to meet other DJs and producers.

​​EDR Start-up Regio Project

Inqubator is involved in the EDR Start-up Regio Project to map the start-up ecosystem of the Drenthe & Groningen regions in The Netherlands and Oldenburg, Lingen & Emden regions in Germany. The project’s aim is also to connect the start-ups from these regions with each other. First, a data base will be set up, after which the start-ups, will be connected by bringing them to different regions.
